To view an in-depth spatial analysis of flood zones in Tacoma, click  Here.

About 1.72% of the nearly 72,000 parcels in Tacoma are at medium or high risk of flooding, amounting to 1226 parcels, many of which are residential and commercial.

Most of the Port of Tacoma lies within or partially within a floodplain (of the Puyallup River, of course). According to the Port of Tacoma Financial Report (2015), "the Port’s investment in capital assets, net of depreciation, for its business activities as of December 31, 2015, amounted to $956.3 million."

Though the port is likely well aware of flood risks, many residences in Tacoma share those similar risks.  51 residential parcels lie within a floodplain and over 250 lie partially in a flood plain.

An estimated taxable value of all parcels that lie completely within a floodplain, and therefore have a high risk of flooding, is $170,241,820.
